OPENING OF THE GUYZANCE ROOM

A beautiful summers day brought out Acklington residents and those from surrounding villages to see the wonderful new Guyzance Room that will be a huge benefit to the community.  The Village Hall committee had laid on Punch/Soft Drinks to welcome everyone along with Pork/Quorn Hot Dogs later.  A cake had been especially iced with a picture of the the Guyzance Room and was cut by Leah, Katie & Molly who had baked cakes earlier in 2012 and sold them with all profits going into the Fund-Raising appeal.  A bouquet was presented to Mrs Jean Robson by Delphine Currie for putting up with all the noise and mess near to her property.  Bookings are already taking place to use this wonderful eco-friendly, spacious, disabled & baby/toddler friendly room.
The chairman, Eddie Critchlow, started the opening ceremony with a short rendition of how it took 38 years to get the old WWII Pre-Fab demolished and the new room built.  This could not have been achieved without the very generous donations from Sir Anthony Milburn, The Revd Robert & Mrs Gina Parker, Councillor Jeff Watson, Acklington Community Team for the kitchenette, Acklington Residents and a grant from LEADER to match the funds raised.  He also made special mention and thanks to Violet Currie and Alison Sharpe for the many hours they both put in during demolition and subsequent construction.
Councillor Jeff Watson then officially opened the Guyzance Room saying what a privilege it was to be a part of this wonderful addition for the community.
