and Rev Christine who were unable to attend due
to various pains.

4. Minutes of the last meeting – accepted
as a true record and signed.
5. Matters arising from minutes –
although Mike had emailed the Pelican with
information about Midnight Mass, it has not been
included in the latest edition. He will
therefore arrange to have some A3 poster
produced and displayed to rectify this
situation. It was suggested that the school
Parish Christmas Card would help advertise the
event and it was noted that Claire Jones would
need a reminder to have the competition at
school asap (Claire has been reminded)
We were unsuccessful in our application to Mike
Haywood's ecclesiastical competition but John
was thanked for his time and efforts in
6. Correspondences -
• Thank you from the People’s Kitchen (read out
in church and now on file)
• Letter form Parish Council re grass cutting
and a £250 contribution towards the cost. This
was discussed and it was agreed that if they
wish to compare the amount charged by NCC that
would be useful for us. We have already agree to
keep Mr and Mrs Little for next year to do 18
cuts between March and October.
• Email of diocesan Prayer Diary to download if
• An invitation to participate in ’ Leading your
Church into Growth’. A three day residential
course in May.
• There was no interest on the restricted
• Childrens' Society literature. It was decided
we will just send a donation as usual. June and
Pam to organise the Christingle service for
which 50 oranges have been ordered.
• Warden – quinquennial inspection been
taken and we are awaiting the report. The
architect commented on how tidy the churchyard
is. Hopefully, the report shouldn’t highlight
too many issues although it was noted that the
west window is beginning to bow. This is
probably because of the lead weakening and
should be alright for another 5 to 10 years.
The microphones are now fixed and operating
Bill thinks he has ‘got rid’ of the mice.
• Treasurer- the new Wednesday morning
prayer books have been purchased with the money
Mike received from the deanery.
Grass cutting £168
Contra wedding £189
Contra Deanery cheque £150
Raffle tickets £6.60
Grass cutting £252
Normal wedding PCC fees £343
Deanery (prayer books) £150
Autumn fair net profit £1042.69
Second hand books to date £288.60
• DBS - the National Audit for DBS is
occurring this month and all our PCC form are in
the vestry safe.
• Events –.Cheese and wine on Sunday 11th
December at Isobel’s from 2pm onwards.
It has been a very successful year and thanks
went to all events committee members. It was
noted that our events are getting a very good
reputation particularly for the food produced.
ACT have cancelled the forthcoming table top
event so we wont be having a table.
8. Vicar’s slot -
Mike circulated the letter and spread sheet
explaining the new parish share and then went
through the rational. After much discussion it
was agreed that he would write to the deanery
for further clarification as to how the new
figures had been reached and why Acklington’s
increase seemed higher than some others.(This
email has been sent and a reply is on file for
the next meeting).
Basically the ‘reduce and reform’ initiative
will reduce the amount churches receive from the
central funds. This will slowly impact over the
next 10 years and churches will be asked to find
more of the money needed to run the churches
year on year.
