MINUTES - 19th November 2014
Acklington Community Team
Committee meeting, 19th November 2014, 6pm,
Present: Alison, Vi, Bill, Tessa
Apologies: Lorna, Chris, George, Jacq
The minutes of the previous meeting were
accepted as a true record.
Treasurer's report: Monies held are much
as before except that £200 has been paid in
Village Hall rent for the come and chat sessions
(offset by £40 collected) and the forthcoming
collections fair. Now that last month's minutes
have been approved and signed, Vi can progress
the change of signatories at the bank.
Review of events:
The Monday “Come and chat” afternoons had been
trialled for several months but had been found
to be unsustainable in the longer term due to
low numbers attending. Thanks to Bill and
Shirley for putting in so much time and effort
to try to get it off the ground. Its eventual
failure does not reflect on their commitment.
Refreshments at the WWI exhibition on Sunday 9th
November had gone well with lots of folk
attending. Approximately £58 was raised after
expenses were deducted. It was decided to split
the proceeds 50/50 with the British legion and
make a donation of £30. Alison to contact Jeff
Watson to let him know and arrange how to hand
over the money.
Collections Fair: The Collections Fair is
due to take place on Sunday (23rd November
2014). There have been posters and an
announcement in the Gazette although these all
say that the time of the event is 2-4pm while
expectations were that it was 12-4, with
exhibitors coming in from 10.00 to set up. In
view of this mix up it was decided to modify the
poster to say 12-4 and print them off 4 to a
page (Tessa). Bill would do a round of the
village putting the flyers through letter boxes.
Refreshments will be served from about 1-4. The
usual people will bring cakes and scones and we
have tea and coffee. Alison will get milk. It
was decided to do a raffle too, so items should
be collected for raffle prizes. Bill will manage
it on the day.
Ceilidh: The ceilidh band The Whistling
Sheep has said it is available on the 14th March
2015 and a £50 has been paid to book them for
this date which has been booked for the village
Burns Supper: The proposed timing of this
was not ideal as Chris and Tessa would be away
in India and there was a competing Burns night
on at the Railway. It was decided to move the
event to the following Saturday, 31st Jan 2015.
More planning will be carried out in early
AGM: This will be held on Thursday 29th
January 2015, 7.00. To be advertised, along with
Burns supper, using posters and flyers through
Next meeting: 8th Jan 2015 at Chris and
Tessa's, starting with the meeting at 6pm
followed by supper.
